INTEGRIS COMPOSITES PRESENTS AT FUTURE OF INDIRECT FIRES CONFERENCE IN TEXAS.

Speaking at a two-day conference devoted to the future of indirect fires, Integris Composites outlined five major trends in military armor.

6th March 2024

Tristan Cordova, business development director of Integris Composites, Inc., addressed more than 200 people attending the Austin, Texas conference exploring the indirect fires market in the United States in response to the Army’s self-propelled howitzer requirement. The conference was organized by Defence IQ’s IDGA group.

Commenting as the indirect fires industry’s “partner in survivability” Cordova outlined the top trends in military armor today:

  1. Remote Weapons Station and Indirect Fire System armor kits for land and naval/marine applications, a fast-growing segment for the protection of operators and weapons while maintaining lethality and effectiveness
  2. Armored optronics casings that protect surveillance and sighting technologies that locate, observe, track and engage targets without unnecessarily placing personnel in the line of fire.
  3. Trauma Reduction Technology reduces the deformation and disruption caused by a stopped projectile. This feature is critical for armor protecting personnel and equipment within vehicles, as well as reducing blunt trauma in protective body armor. Two years ago Integris introduced a new ballistic armor plate made with our patented Trauma Reduction Technology.
  4. Increasing reliance on modularity in armor systems. Armor kits have been reliable solutions used for years in tactical vehicles, aircraft and marine applications. They are increasingly appearing as bolt-on protection that can be installed in the field in locally purchased commercial vehicles or custom tailored to the mission at hand.
  5. Within the category of Active Protection Systems (APS), Integris is diversifying its ABDS™ system developed as an IED countermeasure. In conjunction with Hummingbird Aero, we are developing an Advanced Helicopter Seating System to mitigate the effects of a crash landing.
